Nordweld’s Tank Building System – combining an advanced lifting system and rotation system – is designed for companies involved in the construction of aboveground welded steel storage tanks. With more than 30 years of experience, we understand the challenges faced by tank manufacturers and contractors, helping them deliver safe, high-quality tanks on time and at competitive costs.

Our system supports the construction of storage tanks with diameters from 8 to 50 meters and a weight of up to 700 tons, making it an efficient solution for a wide range of industries such as oil & gas, LNG, biogas and fermentation, chemical, water, pulp & paper, food & beverage, brewing, and nuclear power.

Nordweld
 

The Standard system is engineered for the construction of large-sized steel, welded tanks using pre-rolled, thick steel plates. It is particularly effective in confined spaces, as all materials are fed from a single location. This approach is most suitable when coil material is unavailable, making pre-rolled plates the practical choice.

  • An all-round system for both SS and CS tanks
  • Suitable for CS/SS tanks up to 45 – 50 m in diameter
  • Builds tanks with pre-rolled plates
  • Rotates the entire tank during the construction process
  • Assembly of all material from one location
  • Full mechanized welding with MIG/MAG or SAW or Plasma / Arc Tig
  • All work performed at ground level
  • Retains the shape of the tank by starting with the roof and jacking the tank to full height – no barrel effect

Our story

Niklas Nordin has been active in the steel tank building industry since 1990. His innovative approach began with replacing stick welding rods with MIG/MAG machines and later mechanizing the process by rotating entire tanks. In 1998, he designed the first generation of Nordweld’s tank building system, which he continued to refine over the years.

“I started my career as a tank builder. This system is designed by a tank builder for tank builders – covering everything from transport and installation to adaptability for constructing any tank anywhere in the world.” says Niklas Nordin.
